How does UC4 timber differ from standard products?

McVeigh Parker UC4 products are manufactured using only redwoods treated at a moisture content of 28% or less. The solution strength of the preservative is significantly higher than on standard pressure treatments and the vacuum/pressure process is longer and more thorough than standard treatment cycles, allowing for much deeper penetration of the preservative into the timber. Standard non dried pressure treated products have a shorter expected service life, whereas McVeigh Parker UC4 products that are treated against fungal decay and wood destroying insects have a desired service life of 15 years. The entire treatment process is quality assured in accordance with ISO 9001 criteria, and regular sampling and analysis ensures treatment standards are maintained at all times.

McVeigh Parker products can also be treated to the National Highways Sector Scheme 4 requirements of a 30 year desired service life.

Kent branch manager Keith Underdown has swapped his office base for a new role as key accounts manager for the South and East of England. Keith has worked for McVeigh Parker for over 20 years very successfully managing the Kent branch. Keith is from farming background and has hands on fencing experience, which will serve him well when discussing in the field.

Keith is looking forward to "Getting out and seeing so many customers who have been just imagined faces down the end of the phone and opening up new opportunities for McVeigh Parker."

Dean McNab, takes charge of the Kent branch. Formerly manager of the Hertfordshire branch, Dean, brought up on a farm, has worked for McVeigh Parker for over fifteen years in all areas of the business. He takes charge of this key depot, distributing to customers throughout the Southeast region. Dean says, "I'm Kent born and bred, went up to Hertfordshire on behalf of McVeigh Parker to open that branch, met and married a farmer's daughter from Norfolk and now happy to return to my home roots."

Robbie Smales, becomes manager of the Hertfordshire branch moving up from his role as assistant manager at the Berkshire branch. He is looking forward to making his mark on this successful branch. Established eight years ago, the branch looks after customers throughout Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridgeshire and East Anglia.

Two other management changes include sales executive, Paul Parker to assistant manager of the Berkshire branch and Bev Topper to assistant manager at the Worcestershire branch, moving from her sales executive role at the Sussex branch.

Ever escalating crime figures have generated a requirement for new and innovative ways to enhance security measures. Expensive manned security patrols are often the only effective deterrent as traditional intruder fencing solutions offer little deterrent to an opportunist criminal let alone one of more determined nature.

Construction

* Examine the site and roughly mark out the area (typically 40m x 20m).

* Remove all topsoil and vegetation from the riding arena and then level the site.

* Unless the soil is free draining "herringbone" drainage will be required to drain the subsoil and carry away surface water.

* Dig a spine drain trench across the centre of the arena. This should be 30cm wide and have a varying depth (minimum 40cm) to give a gentle fall toward the outlet.

* Branch drainage channels should be dug at approximately 5m centres.

* Back fill the trenches with 40mm shingle over the pipe.

* Line all trenches and cover the prepared soil-base with McVeigh Parker Geotextile membrane to filter out water borne soil particles and reduce silting up. Lap any joist in the fabric a minimum of 30cm.

* A drainpipe is not necessary unless large volumes of water are expected in the spine drain or the cut off drain.

* Erect the perimeter fence and nail retaining boards to the base of the posts providing a perimeter wall depth of either 30cm or 45cm.

* Used crushed stone, clean rubble or similar material of roughly 5cm to 7cm size to fill the trenches and form a drainage layer over the whole riding arena compacted to a depth of 10-15cm.

* Cover the entire arena with McVeigh Parker Geotextile membrane to separate the top dressing from the rubble, again lapping any joints to a minimum of 30cm.

* Fill with your choice of riding mix (normally sand, wood chip or pvc granules) to a depth of at least 20cm.

Premium Otter Wire Fencing

New from McVeigh Parker is the Predator XFENCE. This fence comes with all the properties of XFENCE with the added advantage of a patented four wrap hinge joint within the fence pattern.

This hinge allows the fence to have an apron fold either at the top or bottom of the fence which will act as defence to burrowing or climbing predators. The benefits of this type of fence is that there is no compromise in its overall strength and appearance, also erection becomes a lot easier with a saving in both time and labour.

McVeigh Parker have recently completed 3500m otter exclusion fence for Hawbridge fishery in Worcestershire. The project involved erecting a perimeter fence around four fishing lakes, the fence was buried over 400mm then backfilled the 950cm vertical part of the fence was tensioned up, allowing the 450mm hinged overhang to be fixed to 45 degree cranked arms. Mr T.Smith the owner researched and spoke to many experts, and along with McVeigh Parker designed a specification that ticked all the boxes. The finer mesh, the 24% stronger X Knot and Xtralife coated wire meant that once erected there would be no further maintenance for years to come.

It’s the Law

Otters ( Lutra lutra) received full protection under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA) also the EC Habitats Directive.

The otter is classed as a European Protected species, and holds the highest level of protection available. This legislation makes it an offence to kill or injure an otter or attempt to do so, to damage or destroy their resting or breeding places or obstruct access to them.

What does this mean for the safety of Otters and the protection of fisheries?

Since the ban, the growth in the otter population has thrived to nearly every county in the United Kingdom. Otters are regarded by some as pests decimating fish stock’s, others regard them as special wildlife that has every right to protection from not only human sources but highways also.

The ban will only lead to this conflict increasing, the otter is here to stay so there is a real need to find the best solution to contain and protect these animals.

Fencing seems to be the only answer, but what kind…?

There have been many trials over the years to determine which fence offers the best defence/protection. Latest trials tested the suitability of hinge joint and mesh size against X knot, the results were very encouraging in favour of a one piece vertical wire mesh XFENCE, which prevented the otter moving the wires apart to gain access.

Since otters have become an issue fencing them in and out has been a challenge and it is only going to get worse.

Electric fencing has been used to good advantage, however this requires monitoring and regular maintenance.

Chain link has been the wire of choice for many years due to its finer mesh, but it can be costly and labour intensive to erect.

Hinge jointed wire netting has been manufactured and used, however the hinge joint can be forced larger especially by other predators such as badgers, enabling access by otters.

Wooden Gates

Most of our gate designs are available in the following choice of timbers, which where possible are sourced from sustainable woodlands.

Softwood - Available in either a semi prepared or prepared finish. Prepared finish can be painted. Some splitting or cracks may occur, especially in periods of hot weather.

Sapele - Sapele is a durable industrial quality hardwood with a mahogany colour. For all applications where a tough utilitarian hardwood is required. It's appearance and longevity will benefit from a coat or two of preservative or alternatively will readily accept a painted finish. Some splitting or cracks may occur especially in periods of hot weather, this does not generally affect the strength and durability of the gates and is therefore not seen as a defect.

Iroko - The premier hardwood, with the appearance and qualities of teak. Planed and sanded mid brown finish. Much lighter in weight than that of Oak, reducing the pressure being put on the fittings and head stock.

No treatment required, although a coating of teak oil annually will help maintain its natural colour.

Oak - Green English oak available in sawn finish. No treatment required. As this is a natural product there may be some movement with age.

The McVeigh Parker Polo Tournament at Hickstead

Preparations are underway this week for the upcoming McVeigh Parker Tournament at Hickstead which will be taking place on Sunday the 6th of March 2011.

See the notes below for last years tournament:

The final tournament of the 2010 season was kindly sponsered by McVeigh Parker the fencing specialists. Sunshine adorned the arena for the closing contest which saw a large number of people turnout to watch and a visiting team from Druids Lodge taking part.

Four teams entered the tournament and all of which seemed fairly evenly matched. The first game on the Saturday saw Novate take on visiting team Watersfield. It proved a closely fought battle with both teams taking the lead at various stages throughout the game. Watersfield however, enjoyed a superb last chukka and advanced into the final with a 10-8 win.

The second semi final unfolded between The Reds and SOS. Again, a tightly fought match ensued which saw the scores neck and neck going into the final chukka. The Reds scored a goal with 30 seconds on the clock. SOS had an opportunity to tie the game with a penalty but sent it wide allowing The Reds to advance into the final 9-8.

The tournament on the Sunday was yet another close encounter final with both teams eager to seal the arena season and victory. Watersfield led by Duncan Hotston, made some great team plays and scored some excellent field goals. The Reds, under the direction of Kim Richardson made some clever defensive plays in an effort to keep Watersfield at Bay. The final chukka however sealed it for the visiting side. Mark Burgon started off a run of goals with a superb individual score . This was then followed by a goal from team mate Toby Hotston with a great open backhand into the goal. Duncan hotston then made sure of the win with yet another goal taking the scores to 12-9 at the final bell and winning the McVeigh Parker Polo Tournament for 2010.

The Sub-final was an open and fast paced match which could have gone to either side. Daniel Acosta for SOS stole victory from Novate in the final 15 seconds scoring an outstanding goal running the ball from one end of the arena to the other.

Both matches were nerve jangling to watch and immensely enjoyed by all. Assisted by the beautiful weather, it was a tremendous final tournament weekend at Hickstead.

The Great Crane Project is a monumental and exciting new development for the UK wetlands. This is a partnership between the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust, RSPB and Pensthorpe Conservation Trust, with major funding from Viridor Credits Environmental Company.

The aim of the project is to restore healthy populations of wild cranes throughout the UK, so that people can once again experience these beautiful birds.

Over the next five years, the project will focus on the reintroduction of cranes into the Somerset Levels and Moors - 60,000ha of floodplain in the South West of the UK, dominated by extensive mixed pastures, meadows and wetlands.Around 20 young birds will be hand-reared and released each year, with 100 birds planned to be released by 2015.

Part of the project involves the construction of a predator proof release enclosure. As it is vital that the wire used in the construction of this is the strongest available the decision was made to use X™ fence® wire fencing from McVeigh Parker.

Steel increases on the horizon - Queensland produces 70% of the hard coking coal used in global steel production so it is possible that the recent flooding in Australia will impact on worldwide steel prices. We have already heard from steel stock holders that steel will increase by 10% at the end of January with a further 10% rise probable in February.

Fuel increases - Fuel is on the increase with diesel around £1.33 per litre, not only does this increase the cost of transport but also certain products that require oil in the production stage. We have had recent quotes for stretch film and silage sheets, the current price has increased by 15% with a further increase expected in February. Drainage products along with plastic feeding equipment are likely to rise in price too.

Deer have a tendency to forage over large areas, the need for an effective yet economical barrier is paramount. This lightweight, high tensile strength plastic netting offers a cost effective deer control barrier.

The plastic nettings strength is obtained from pre-stretching at the point of manufacture, this gives a degree of elasticity which should repel any attempt from deer entry.

This particular mesh and fence height are designed to exclude Muntjac, Sika and Roe deer, although Fallow deer will be deterred we recommend a higher plastic or ideally a permanent wire netting fence for total exclusion.

The deer fence is black, UV stabilised and rot proof and unobtrusive as it merges into it’s background. Deer fencing is very quick and easy to erect and each roll weighs less than 15kg. The Livestock lines were buzzing! The Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery wowed the crowd with their cannons, horses and soldiers. The Ambridge village had a fantastic atmosphere and visitors enjoyed line dancing and listening to Al Boden singing while relaxing with a local beer. The Food and Drink Hall was very busy and traders enjoyed handing out free samples to passers by. Wyvern Radio put on a great World Cup Village with inflatable football pitches, music and face painting and the children were having a great time.

2011 plans are already underway, and there will be lots of exciting new features.

Food lovers looking for a tasty treat won’t be disappointed as the ever popular Roberts Bakery Food Hall and Food Live Theatre returns to the 2011 show to showcase the very best in local, regional and national produce.

Country lovers will get the chance to try their hand at a range of pursuits including clay shooting and archery in the Countryside Experience area as well as seeing falconry and fishing demonstrations and the parade of hounds.

Take Time To Choose The Right Timber

Most customers spend time deciding what specification of wire to buy and what labour to use when planning their fence requirements. Whilst this tends to form the main expenditure of their project, the timber stakes are an afterthought with their cost usually the main issue prior to purchasing. Stakes are as important if not more important to the longevity of the fence and time should be taken to fully consider the options available before commencing. This very competitive market has numerous variants and knowing exactly what they are is complex. We have listed some of the options available to you with a brief description on their make up and their expected longevity, which we believe will help you avoid the disappointment of having to prematurely replace your fence. Ideally any timber in ground contact needs to have the very best form of treatment, where as rails (out of ground contact) do not need treatment to the same degree. Cleft, although rustic looking, is the strongest form of fencing as it is taken from the natural grain of the timber. However market demands and price dictate that peeled, machine full round, half round and sawn timbers are the preferred options in both stakes and rails.

Merchantable Quality

Treatment may vary, dependant on Winter cut or Summer cut timber, and these tend to be air dried to a moisture content of 28% or below, then treated to European legislation Class 4. However it is important to note that the moisture content reading is formed from an average selection of the products to be treated. Only Kiln-dried products can guarantee moisture content of 28% or below. A merchantable quality is a mixed species of white or redwood selected and treated to the above principles. Whilst every care is taken to comply with the class 4 regulations, without the costly exercise of Kiln Drying it is not possible to offer a guarantee on longevity of this product. The new EEC regulations have taken out arsenic from the treatment and chrome is currently under investigation. However, new chemicals have been introduced that are safer, and under the correct application are still able to satisfy the Class 4 regulation. Due to market demands and competitive pressures this type of timber tends to be price sensitive and although will suit most situations, any
doubt to its longevity or application then Class 4 Kiln dried should be purchased.

Class 4, Kiln Dried Redwood

Timber kiln dried to a moisture content of less than 28%. Selected redwood are used and pressure treated in accordance with the European regulations.

Kiln drying the timber prior to treatment is essential; it enables the treatment plant to monitor all aspects of the treatment process including the essential moisture content prior to the fixation process. This form of treatment carries a desired life expectancy similar to that of the Highways specification and should give a service life in excess of 15 to 20 years. This is a more recognized form of quality, selected kiln dried timber, then a controlled treatment process providing the ideal in-ground post products to give you a durable, long lasting fence.

Creosoted Pressure Treated

Selected suitable softwoods, dried then pressure creosoted, this age old process has long been the choice of many orchards and equestrian establishments. The life expectancy of these exceeds 20 years.

Chestnut Timber

English coppiced woodlands provide an annual source of fencing timbers. Chestnut coppiced in the winter will give the longest life, ideally sitting for a year then tar dipped; however, todays are cut green then used. The life expectancy of green chestnut exceeds 10 years.

Appearance: A semi-rough surface in cleft or sawn rustic appearance, irregular and sometimes deformed looking with a light golden colour appearance when new fading to a silvery grey.

These superior grade Stack Tarpaulins are designed to ensure that bales can be safely stored outdoors without loss of quality, and if well looked after will give many years use.

The 'Performer' range of bale tarpaulins are available in widths from 4.2m (14ft) up to 22.5m (74ft) and can cover stacks up to 17m (56ft) wide. Sheets are available in lengths of 14.3m (47ft) up to 18m (59ft). The tarpaulin itself is manufactured from high strength, UV treated polyweave fabric with 7-8 years UV protection. Each sheet comes as standard with 'hook-in' adjustable securing straps, that use a unique 'Super Cinch', which enables the sheet to be quickly and tightly secured using tie-down dropper ropes, the 'Super Cinch' and 'J' hooks.

In addition, incorporated into the hem of each tarpaulin are plastic pipe inserts, designed to keep the sheet rigid, and for the ties to pull evenly across the full width of the sheet, but still allow it to be quickly folded back in 1.2m (4ft) sections on itself and then re-tighted using the 'Super Cinch'. The hem also includes a rain flap that deflects water away from the sides of the stack.

The new 'Bull Flex' range is designed to be a cost-effective alternative to the Performer range. It is easy to use, has a far longer life than many 'off the shelf' tarpaulins and will last on average over three years if well looked after.

Instead of easily torn-out grommets used on cheaper tarpaulins, the 'Bull Flex' is fitted with high strength triangular tabs and 5cm wide webbing tie-down loops. As an option, the 'Bull Flex' tarpaulin can also be specified with the 'Super Cinch' tie-down system used on the 'Performer' range.

For extremely exposed sites or where maximum tie-down strength is required, along each side the hem is sown to create a pocket into which plastic water pipe can be inserted to provide increased rigidity. A webbing draw-string is also built into each end, which once tightened will help avoid wind getting under the tarpaulin.

With this year marking the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, Capel-le-Ferne took centre stage with an annual tribute that was attended by HRH Prince Michael of Kent.

The restrictions imposed by the local councils and the sensitivity and location of the site required a fence that did not impose itself on the landscape and that could resist the sea salt spray. The Badger Cull Debate Continues!

The Welsh Assembly Government has taken the controversial decision to cull badgers in north Pembrokeshire, as part of its measures to control the spread of bovine tuberculosis in cattle. In England there is soon to be a trial badger vaccination programme, and the new coalition government has just announced plans to implement a badger cull. The debate continues on whether the bullet or the needle is more likely to stop the spread of bTB.

Advice that is clear is to try and minimise the contact between cattle and badgers. Avoid grazing fields which contain badger setts. Raise troughs and drinkers to prevent badgers getting access; prevent badger access to farm buildings, feed and feedstores (including silage pits).

Electric fencing tape has long been the recognised barrier for horses due to its high visibility, however tape structures vary so much, the number and thickness of the wires often can affect the fences overall performance. In general terms you should seek to purchase the tape with the thickest and most wires used in the tapes construction, this will ensure improved performance. Colours: green, white, and brown. Although white tends to be visible, brown and green are the colour of choice where aesthetics are the priority. Thickness's available 12mm,20mm and 40mm. 40mm is more visible but has a tendency to catch the wind which could affect its life. 20mm tends to be the tape of choice offering both good visibility and wind resistance.12mm is bought for economy and temporary paddocks.

Single strand galvanised wire provides the best conductivity and gives you a longer trouble free life. Better conductivity is sacrificed by poor visibility, ideally suited to permanent fences.

Rope has gained popularity over the years offering both good wind resistance, strength and high visibilty, cost effective and easy to install. No special insulators required. How To Install A Closeboard Fence From McVeigh Parker

Posts: Most popular sizes 100mm x 100mm & 100mm x 125mm, square top or half back weathered. Plain or morticed. Normally 0.6m longer than the fence height, allow longer when stepping down sloped ground.
Rails: 3.0m or 2.4m lengths ex75mm (3") x 75mm, plain or scarf ended, or rectangular nail on rails.
Feather edge: 2 x100 x 22mm, 2ex150 x 22mm. Recommended overlap 18mm. 37 boards required per 3.0m bay.
Gravel board: 3.0m or 2.4m long x 150 x 22mm.
Centre stump: 50mm x 50mm x 0.6m splay cut to suit arris.
Cleats: 150mm x 50mm x 38mm.

Installation
Dig hole 600mm deep and set first post in concrete to required depth.
Measure to next hole, using the gravel board, dig next hole.
Fit scarf ended rails into mortices in post one, then fit rails into post two mortices starting at the bottom first.
Nail only the top rail. Then concrete second post.
Once arris rails and post framework are set up you can add gravel boards.
Nail wooden cleats, 22mm in from the mortice side of the post, then trim gravel boards to fit between posts and nail to cleats.
Work down the line keeping the boards level and posts straight.
Dig in and nail centre stump to bottom of arris rail to strengthen and support the weight at the centre of each bay.
Now start by placing the first featherboard, thick edge against the post with the bottom of the board resting on the gravel board. Nail one nail per rail in the thicker edge approximately 18mm from the edge. Then place the next board with the thicker edge overlapping the thinner edge of the previous board by 18mm and nail through, ensuring that the nail does not penetrate the previous board.
Use a spirit level to check the boards are perpendicular. Continue across the bay until the last board which is then reversed, thick edge to the post. If using a counter rail, nail approximately 6 boards to the counter rail.

Optional extra
If required, trim and nail counter rail between the posts, flush with the top of the posts.
Nail capping to counter rail, extending to the centre of the top of the posts.

How To Erect A Riding Arena From McVeigh Parker

An all weather horse arena or gallop must be designed and constructed to cope with adverse weather conditions and preserve the properties of the riding surface. Therefore the inclusion of a McVeigh Parker geotextile membrane is vital to maintain a clean free draining surface and improve stability.

Installing a riding area or gallop is not beyond the ability of a competent contractor or landowner.

The following guidelines have been prepared to help with your design.

Location
• To simplify drainage, ideally the arena should be located near a stream, ditch or existing drain.
• On sloping ground some excavation will be required to make the area level.
• Easy access from hard standing road or track.

Construction
• Examine the site and roughly mark out the area (typically 40m x 20m).
• Remove all topsoil and vegetation from the riding area and then level the site.
• Unless the soil is free draining “herringbone” drainage will be required to drain the subsoil and carry away surface water.
• Dig a spine drain trench across the centre of the arena. This should be 30cm wide and have a varying depth
(minimum 40cm) to give a gentle fall toward the outlet.
• Branch drainage channels should be dug at approximately 5m centres.
• Back fill the trenches with 40mm shingle over the pipe.
• Line all trenches and cover the prepared soil-base with McVeigh Parker geotextile membrane to filter out water borne soil particles and reduce silting up. Lap any joist in the fabric a minimum of 30cm.
• A drainpipe is not necessary unless large volumes of water are expected in the spine drain or the cut off drain.
• Erect the perimeter fence and nail retaining boards to the base of the posts providing a perimeter wall depth of either 30cm or 45cm.
• Use crushed stone, clean rubble or similar material of roughly 5cm to 7cm size to fill the trenches and form a drainage layer over the whole riding arena compacted to a depth of 10 - 15cm.
• Cover the entire arena with MP Geotextile membrane to separate the top dressing from the rubble, again lapping any joints to a minimum of 30cm.
• Fill with your choice of riding mix (normally sand, woodchip or PVC granules) to a depth of at least 20cm.

At their recent open day Harper Adams University College demonstrated their new bio secure area which they have constructed using McVeigh Parker X™ fence® with a horizontal mesh apron.

Electric Fencing Solar Powered Energiser's From McVeigh Parker

Solar panels have been around a long time in various wattages, however their performance can be indifferent in the UK climate. In our experience we recommend you need at least 10 watt per joule to retain fence effectiveness, especially in times of heavy growth and damp winter months. Using less wattage panels means you may have to have additional back up charge to your battery in these excessive times.

The panels listed should give you many uninterrupted weeks and months of use while also extending the life of your battery.

This week has been an exciting week at McVeigh Parker. Not only have we just launched our Spring SALE brochure but we've also just brought out a new electric fencing catalogue. But the really exciting news is that Sophie the Southdown sheep who is owned by Ian and Clare at our Berkshire branch had two lambs last night. Know Your Timber By McVeigh Parker

Due to EEC legislation banning the use of CCA preservative and chrome, it is our understanding the market has failed to find a suitable replacement. Due to recent press coverage and reports, McVeigh Parker have looked at all the alternatives and have chosen to select species and processes which will give the longest possible service life, see below the following options:

Hazard Class 4, kiln dried redwood
This is a more recognized form of quality, selected kiln, dried timber. Then a controlled treatment process providing the ideal in-ground contact post products to give you a durable, long lasting fence. Backed by the manufacturers own 15 year guarantee (copy on request) round timbers only. Appearance: Peeled semi-rough surface or sawn finish, light green in colour. Splits may occur during the drying process which are natural, the treatment still penetrates to the heartwood this still provides protection of the sapwood even when the timber opens up. Home grown and imported from FSC certified forests.

Merchantable
Is a mass sourced, mass produced, commercially challenged product, made from mixed species treated with the current regulated CCO treatments. The varieties in the mixed species perform differently to the treatment and, subject to the moisture content, treatment levels vary. This timber is treated to European legislation Class 4, however it is important to note that moisture content readings are formed from an average selection. Due to our reservations in the full process we are unable to offer any guarantee on this type of timber. Market demands and competitive pressures for this type of timber tend to make it price sensitive and although will suit most situations, any doubt to its longevity or application then Hazard Class 4 Kiln dried should be purchased.

Creosoted
Selected suitable softwoods, dried then pressure creosoted, this age old process has long been the choice of many orchards and equestrian establishments. The desired life expectancy of these exceeds 20 years. Can be hazardous to handle.

Chestnut Timber
Selected from English coppiced woodlands. The life expectancy of green chestnut exceeds 10 years, seasoned can last 30 years plus. Appearance: A semi-rustic appearance in full round, cleft or sawn, irregular and sometimes deformed looking, natural splitting can occur. Light golden colour appearance when new, fading to a silvery grey with age. This is English homegrown.

The big news here is the opening of our new Wigan branch right by junction 25 of the M6. This now means that our free delivery area has extended and our fleet is delivering throughout the North of England on a daily basis.

Last minute preparations are in hand this week for The McVeigh Parker Polo Tournament which will be at The All England Club Hickstead on Sunday the 7th of March 2010. As McVeigh Parker is the official 2010 supplier to Hickstead it made perfect sense for their involvement with sponsoring an event there. The catering has been booked and the live commentary organised and we are looking forward to welcoming our equestrian customers to a fun day out.

Stop press! Latest press news! Last month’s issue of Fencing and Landscaping News ran an article about the use of our Xfence badger premier wire fencing being used in the prevention of TB in cattle.

And finally, we’re all looking forward to the start of Lambing Live on BBC 2 on Sunday the 7th of March 2010, presented by Kate Humble and Countryfile presenter and farmer, Adam Henson.
